The Arab region is among the most vulnerable to climate change, the recent crises that have affected the region have limited the fiscal space of Governments to implement climate action, which hindered the achievement of SDG 13, which aims to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Therefore, ESCWA organized a session on building climate resilience in a polycrisis environment during AFSD, where participants discussed measures taken to adapt to climate change while ensuring a just and inclusive energy transition in a polycrisis environment.
They also discussed ways to strengthen climate resilience with a focus on adaptation, mitigation and climate finance, particularly in vulnerable Arab countries.
