On 16 October, ESCWA launched a capacity building programme for rural women in Algeria within the framework of the Regional Initiative to Promote Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND).
This initiative focuses on empowering women with knowledge in sustainability, renewable energy, energy efficiency, good agricultural practices, sustainable irrigation, food production, marketing sustainable products, and understanding the Water-Energy-Food Nexus.
Funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and organized in partnership with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), along with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Algeria, the programme is set to continue until next March.
