In preparation for the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 2021, ESCWA organized on 26 November the “Arab Regional Parliamentary Forum on the 2030 Agenda: The Impact of COVID-19 on SDG Implementation and the Role of Parliaments”, in partnership with UNDP, IsDB and IPU.
Participants discussed the need to enhance the role of parliaments during the global health crisis to ensure that response measures take into account the needs and priorities of constituents, and protect the most vulnerable.
The Forum builds on previous ESCWA activities with parliamentarians, such as the 2017 Regional Seminar for Parliamentarians in the Arab Region on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2019 Arab Region Parliamentary Forum on the 2030 Agenda.
