During the first week of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti highlighted the efforts Arab countries are taking to combat climate change.
In a dialogue organized by ESCWA and the Islamic Development Bank on climate development planning and climate finance, Dashti shed light on the Arab States Climate Finance Mobilization and Access Strategy, which aims to help mobilize resources in line with the needs and priorities of the Arab States.
Dashti also underlined the role of Islamic social financing as she took part in a meeting organized by the Global Ethical Finance Initiative and UK Islamic Finance Council on the role of Islamic Social Financing in achieving the SDGs. She noted how it would help bridge the funding gap to implement these goals and achieve the Paris Agreement.
