The Arab region is still off track to achieve SDG 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. In this context, ESCWA organized a plenary session during AFSD to discuss water security and ways to accelerate action in this regard.
The session assessed the progress made in the implementation of SDG 6 in the region, and presented innovative policy and financing solutions to accelerate the provision of clean water and sanitation for all.
The meeting took stock of priorities and consolidated regional messaging ahead of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference and the midterm review of the Water Action Decade.
