The Arab region is facing major challenges hindering its ability to achieve sustainable socioeconomic development. Climate change and climate variability are among the challenges exacerbating the problem in the region.
ESCWA, in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UNESCO, and the Civil Aviation Authority organized the 15th regional workshop on capacity development for climate change negotiations in Oman.
The workshop, held between 4 and 6 October, aimed to support Arab States in implementing the outcome based decisions of COP 26, and allowed participants to discuss pressing issues on the agenda of the upcoming COP 27 conference such as adaptation, mitigation and financing.
