ESCWA, in cooperation with the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), is organizing a roundtable discussion on "Addressing Social Justice under Conflict and Fragility in the Arab Region".
Experts, academics and development practitioners from the Arab region, southern countries and the world address key elements of influence on social justice in the context of conflict and fragility. The aim is to explore potential solutions from conceptual frameworks, evidence, and country experiences.
The discussion tackles three thematic areas:
1) social justice for vulnerable groups under conflict and fragility;
2) role of central and local governments;
3) coordination mechanisms for equitable access to public services.
The roundtable provides the substantive foundation for the larger joint ESCWA/UNOSSC project of developing and implement guidelines to address social justice under conflict and fragility in the Arab Region.
