The Social Justice Team/Gender Justice, Population and Inclusive Development Cluster at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in close cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in Yemen, is organizing a national capacity-building workshop on the use of the “Social Justice Policy-Gap Assessment Tool” in Aden, Yemen on Wednesday September 29, 2021.
The workshop will present the assessment tool and all its elements in details. It aims to clarify the practical procedures and steps associated with the assessment at the level of planning and implementation and to guide those concerned on how to use the tool and draw conclusions, with a focus on wage and labor protection policy in Yemen.
The workshop participants will also agree on a plan of action for assessing wage policies in Yemen, which in turn, will require the participants to convene a series of meetings and normative discussions aimed at collecting and analyzing information and answering the assessment questionnaire to ensure consensus. This process will provide an opportunity for the national assessment team to agree on the steps required to fill the gaps that the assessment will reveal, improve the wage policy in Yemen, and monitor progress over time.
The workshop will gather members of the national team who were nominated by the governmental and non-governmental agencies concerned with wage policies and workers’ protection in Yemen to conduct the assessment process.
