The second Regional Steering Committee meeting for the "Resilient Water Solutions Against Climate Change in Jordan and Lebanon" project, led by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in collaboration with ESCWA and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), is convening in Jordan, chaired by the respective environment ministers.
The meeting is aimed at discussing project advancements, challenges and solutions, and fostering regional learning on climate change adaptation. It emphasizes the significance of knowledge exchange and collaboration between Lebanon and Jordan in addressing climate impacts on various sectors, including water, agriculture and urban areas.
The project focuses on promoting climate resilience and adaptation in Jordan and Lebanon, particularly in areas vulnerable to extreme weather events. Financed by the Adaptation Fund, it aims to enable local communities to adapt to changing climate conditions through sustainable water management practices and innovative irrigation methods.
