The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) are pleased to invite you to attend the 'Regional Forum on the Role of Islamic Financial Institutions in Financing for Development'.
 
The event is being held in Bahrain on 5 - 6 September 2007, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Attendance is complimentary, however advance registration is required.
 
The event features a number of prominent regional and international speakers who will provide their insights and thoughts on such key issues such as venture capital, sukuk as an instrument for developmental finance, strengthening inter-regional financing for development purposes and the future prospects of Islamic finance.
 
Eminent keynote speakers include Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance, Kingdom of Bahrain, who is also Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank; Mr. Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain; Mr. Badr Al-Dafa, Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary, UN-ESCWA; and Mr. Amadou Boubacar Cisse, Vice President (Operations), Islamic Development Bank.
 
A high profile speaker line-up includes:

Leading confirmed participants include Mr. Adib Mayaleh, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria; Shaikh Fahd Al Thani, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Qatar; and Mr. Mohamed Bin Hammam, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Yemen. Other delegates will include senior officials from central banks and senior executives of Islamic financial institutions from the region.
