The Development Account project on measuring, monitoring and improving performance in regional integration within the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and ESCWA regions aims to provide a robust regional integration index to be used by Member States to monitor and evaluate their economic integration performance. Within the framework of the project, ESCWA is organizing two regional workshops and two national capacity-building workshops for Jordan and Morocco. ESCWA is offering technical assistance in the use of the tools for developing regional trade integration schemes and negotiating and designing trade agreements based on scenario analysis.
- The four (two regional, two national) capacity-building workshops and the technical assistance offered to targeted countries aim to familiarize Member States with ESCWA’s Arab Economic Integration System of Indices for performance monitoring and evaluation. The system was developed to carry evidence-based analysis and design economic integration schemes to improve Member States’ economic integration at the global, regional and intra-regional levels;
- The consultation sessions aim to identify ways for Morocco and Jordan further economic ties with partners, especially at the intra-Arab level and will result in a comprehensive national action plan for economic integration.
