Older persons in Somalia constitute one of the most vulnerable social groups, as large segments are exposed to risks of poverty, disease and isolation.
In the framework of technical assistance with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Somalia, ESCWA is organizing a capacity-building workshop on mainstreaming ageing in policymaking with the aim of building the knowledge of relevant ministry representatives on issues and priorities relating to older persons and the means to best address them within the national context.
The hybrid workshop is being organized in Nairobi, Kenya, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Somalia, the Somali National Bureau of Statistics, the ministries of health, transportation and education, and members of parliament.
