The Social Justice Team of the Gender Justice, Population, and Inclusive Development Cluster at ESCWA, in cooperation with the Parliament of Somalia, is organizing a workshop on integrating social justice principles into national policies and legislation. The workshop addresses developing equality-oriented policies and programmes. It is followed by consultative meetings to discuss the development of a national strategy for social justice.
This training workshop is within the framework of technical support provided by ESCWA to Somalia to enhance the capacities of national officials and experts on social justice.
The objectives of the workshop are to:
- Strengthen the capacities of parliamentarians on integrating the principles of social justice and equality into national policies and legislation
- Provide technical assistance on identifying social justice gaps in public policies and programmes and assessing alignment with the principles of social justice
- Conduct consultative meetings to discuss the roadmap for developing a national strategy for social justice in accordance with national priorities.
The programme targets members of the Somali parliament, especially of relevant parliamentary committees.
