The ESCWA Staff Council and the ESCWA Centre for Women (ECW) conducted a panel discussion as part of ESCWA Gender Discussion Series (GDS).
This session focused on Gender-Based Violence in Emergency Settings and analyzed the main reasons and consequences faced by women in such context. Dr. Lina Abirafeh, Director of the Institute of Women’s Study in the Arab World at the Lebanese American University, was the guest speaker. Dr. Mehrinaz El Awady, Deputy Director of ECW, moderated the discussion, with participation from researchers and experts from academia, civil society, and international organizations. Mr. Georges Younes, President of the ESCWA Staff Council, opened the session with a welcoming speech.
