Expert Group on Social Protection Reform in Arab Countries: 10th meeting

The Expert Group on Social Protection Reform in Arab Countries is holding its 10th meeting to address the following:

• In line with a commitment made during the group’s 9th meeting, the secretariat is presenting a non-live prototype of the electronic Social Protection Platform for the Arab Region. 
• The secretariat is providing a reporting template to facilitate information collection for the development of the Annual Digest of Social Protection Reforms in the Arab Region 2024.
• Country representatives are sharing progress made in developing the comprehensive national social protection and reforms country profile reports. They are also providing a brief overview of their experiences, challenges and best practices during this process.

The meeting offers an opportunity for the secretariat to provide first insights and arguments on how to address income inequality via equitable, progressive life-cycle-oriented social insurance schemes. These arguments and insights will be further developed in the upcoming fourth report on inequality in the Arab region for 2025, with a focus on social protection.
