The Regional Workshop on the Exchange of Experiences on the Collection and Dissemination of Road and Railway Transport Statistics: Statistics on The Volume of Road Traffic (Vehicle-Kilometer) is to be to be convened during 8- 10 December 2020. The regional workshop will be convened virtually. The workshop is part of ESCWA's strategy and is in follow up on the recommendations of the ESCWA Statistics Committee at its 13th session (January 2019) and the Regional workshop on the development of transport statistics and related sustainable development indicators in Arab countries (September 2019), which requested the ESCWA Secretariat to focus on systemic issues related to transport and road statistics.
Through this workshop, ESCWA aims to identify and rationalize the methodologies adopted by member countries in their production of statistics on the volume of road traffic, while ensuring that these methodologies comply with international standards and methodologies.
