ESCWA is organizing a workshop on the “Tools and best practices in logistics and supply chains facilitations”, at the request of the Ministry of transport, communications and information technology in Oman.
The workshop introduces the concepts of logistics hubs, Port Community Systems (PCS), and cold chains. It presents the status quo of the logistics system in Oman, the current projects and the development plans. It sheds light on the experience of Morocco in logistics hubs and PCS and the international experience of Malaysia in establishing logistic platforms and PCSs. Participants also review the PCSs established by the International Port Community System Association. The workshop presents the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage, and discusses the opportunities available for Oman within Oman’s Logistic Strategy 2040.
