In the Arab region ater resources remain under-valued and investments are insufficient. From 2010-2021, Arab States received only $6.9 billion in public water-related climate finance, which is well below articulated needs. Public, private and development finance should respond to national and sectoral development priorities, target vulnerable communities, and implement integrated financial and actionable solutions.
This forum is held during the MENA Climate Week 2023. It supports the Arab Initiative for Mobilizing Climate Finance for Water, adopted as a Water Action Agenda commitment to increase climate finance for integrated water resources management, transboundary water cooperation and climate-smart practices across water-related sectors.
