Committee on Water Resources

The Committee addresses the critical issue of water security in view of water scarcity in the Arab region.

The Committee on Water Resources was established in accordance with resolution 205 (XVIII) of 25 May 1995, which was endorsed by Economic and Social Council resolution 1995/26 of 24 July 1995. It holds its sessions biannually. The Committee addresses the critical issue of water security in the Arab region. It comprises representatives of members States specialized in the field, and is tasked with identifying priorities for ESCWA and member States’ work programmes. The Committee also monitors progress and developments in the water sector, and follows up on international and regional conferences in the field.
