The Committee on Water Resources of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), was established pursuant to resolution 205 (XVIII) of 25 May 1995. It holds its sessions once every two years.
The fourteenth session of the Committee on Water Resources will be held virtually, on 29 and 30 September 2021. It will provide a platform for member State representatives to discuss progress in achieving water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region; Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for improved water security; groundwater management; support to member States on the management of transboundary water resources; and regional cooperation on climate change. The Committee’s agenda also includes a review of the various activities implemented in the field of water resources since its previous session. Regional priorities for the coming will also be discussed. At the conclusion of its proceedings, the Committee will make concrete recommendations on ways to develop water resources management in the Arab region.
