The Committee on Water Resources was established pursuant to resolution 205 (XVIII) of 25 May 1995. It holds its sessions once every two years.
The fifteenth session of the Committee will be held in Beirut, on 19 and 20 June 2023. It will provide a platform for member State representatives to discuss progress towards water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region and follow up on the various activities implemented in the field of water resources since the previous session. The Committee will also discuss improved groundwater management through innovative knowledge tools, the midterm comprehensive review of the Water Action Decade in the Arab region, and water sector finance.
At the conclusion of its proceedings, the Committee will make concrete recommendations on the ESCWA programme plan for 2024 in the field of water resources and ways to develop water resources management in the Arab region.
