The Voluntary Local Review of Ennour Municipality, Tunisia 2024
May 2024
The 2024 Voluntary Local Review (VLR) of Ennour Municipality in Tunisia is a landmark achievement, led by a joint effort between Kasserine Governorate and Ennour Municipality. It is the first of its kind in Tunisia and the second in North Africa, following the VLR of Agadir, Morocco. This successful localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a testament to the collaboration between Kasserine Governorate, Ennour Municipality, ESCWA, and UN-Habitat.
Cities play a critical role in translating SDGs into local action. They align strategies, mobilize resources, engage stakeholders, monitor progress, and drive innovation for sustainable and inclusive urban environments. Following the two Voluntary National Reports (VNRs) of Tunisia in 2019 and 2021, the VLR in Ennour demonstrates the country's commitment to advancing SDG localization and promoting local and regional development dialogue.
