On 6 and 7 December, ESCWA, in collaboration with the League of Arab States and UN Women, organized a regional workshop to present and discuss the guidance note for comprehensive national reviews, as part of the Review of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 30 years.
The workshop aimed to assist Arab States in preparing comprehensive national reviews to evaluate progress in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the past three decades. Particular emphasis was placed on understanding the structure and content of national reports in accordance with the guidance note for comprehensive national reviews, prepared by the secretariat of the Commission on the Status of Women and the five UN Regional Commissions.
The workshop also delved into the integration of these reports with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), with a special focus on SDG 5 which pertains to gender equality and women's empowerment.
