ESCWA participated in the UN Water Conference 2023 from 22 to 24 March, which highlighted the importance of cooperation and partnerships at all levels to achieve international water-related goals and targets.
The Commission took part in several side events addressing topics such as transboundary and international water cooperation; access to clean water and sanitation in the Palestinian context; committing to advancing transboundary water cooperation worldwide for sustainable development; climate action; and peace and stability.
To reaffirm their commitment to the Water Action Agenda, ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) also announced the launch of the “Arab Initiative for Mobilizing Climate Finance for Water” - in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Green Climate Fund (GCF).
