“Skills and Jobs of Tomorrow”

On 8 April, ESCWA participated in a webinar on “Skills and Jobs of Tomorrow”, organized by ICESCO in partnership with a number of international organizations. Discussions focused on the future of employment in the cultural and creative industries, and the skills and qualifications needed for tomorrow’s workplace.

ESCWA discussed the main characteristics of labour market information systems (LMIS), which are meant to assist policymakers in formulating evidence-based labour market policies, and presented an overview of best regional and international practices in developing such systems.

ESCWA also presented its job monitor, a tool it is developing to identify the new skills required in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contribute to reducing the mismatch between demand and supply in Arab labour markets.
