As part of its efforts to provide technical assistance to member States, ESCWA and UNDP organized a training workshop in Muscat on the construction and updating of a social accounting matrix (SAM) for Oman.
The workshop, held from 3 to 6 June, aimed to equip experts from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Oman, with the knowledge and skills required to construct, update and disaggregate a SAM for their country.
The workshop also delved into the theoretical concepts of the matrix and its functional steps, and included hands-on exercises for various applications in economic analysis and policymaking.
