From 9 to 11 April, ESCWA participated in the Third International Conference on Digital Transformation, organized by the Arab Federation for E-Commerce.
Participants discussed a wide range of topics, including the importance of digital transformation and how it boosts economic and social change; requirements for digital transformation; open government and citizen participation; and the role of e-commerce in supporting the economy.
ESCWA reviewed the concept of digital transformation and its links to SDGs 16 and 17, providing an overview of digital policies and indicators in the Arab region. ESCWA also presented on open data and open government, and their benefits for sustainable development, such as achieving time and cost gains in the transport and industry sectors, and providing more effective and accountable health services.
