On 8 and 9 June, ESCWA participated in the MENA Europe Future Energy Dialogue (MEFED), hosted by the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the German Federal Government at the Dead Sea in Jordan.
In a ministerial panel discussion on the outlook of mutual benefits and energy relationships between Europe and the region, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti highlighted the importance of finance to achieve a just and inclusive energy transition. She also stressed the importance for Europe to deliver on their climate finance commitments to support developing countries in pursuing sustainable climate action pathways.
ESCWA, the League of Arab States (LAS) and other partners also organized a side event tackling “Regional Integration Possibilities”, and addressed ways to accelerate the process of ensuring access to sustainable energy for all.
