From 18 to 21 February, ESCWA held a workshop that concluded a capacity building programme for rural women in Algeria. This programme was launched last October and organized within the framework of the Regional Initiative to Promote Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND).
The workshop focused on sustainability, renewable energy, the water-energy-food nexus and good agricultural practices, in addition to interactive lectures, field visits, and the distribution of certificates of participation.
The capacity building programme included 12 training workshops in the provinces of Laghouat, Tissemsilt and Beni Abbes, and revolved around renewable energy, energy efficiency, good agricultural practices, sustainable irrigation, food production, entrepreneurship and marketing.
