The Arab region is highly vulnerable to climate change, and requires international financing for robust climate action. In an effort to assist Arab countries in bolstering their resilience and adapting to the adverse impacts of climate change, ESCWA and its partners organized two sessions during COP28 dedicated to financing climate action.
Held on 4 December, the sessions honed in on climate resilience and finance within the region, emphasizing the facilitation of climate finance flows through project acceleration.
Additionally, ESCWA participated in two sessions focused on climate finance. The first delved into the goals of the sustainable debt coalition, along with a task force on sustainability-linked sovereign financing for nature and climate; the second session centered around financing for resilience.
