Workshop on the SEEA Central Framework and SDG’s Indicators

The System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) is an important framework for analyzing the impact of economic policies on the environment. As well, it is a guide for integrating environmental information with national accounts to allow decision makers to sustainably manage natural resources that contributes to the achievement of sustainable development objectives. After the completion of the online course which contains 5 training modules on water, energy, land use, emissions and others, and 4 sessions with SEEA experts. National statistical offices in the Arab countries were invited to attend the training workshop, which is aimed for the employees of the environment and water statistics and national accounts. As well, Experts from regional and international organizations and experts from different fields of participation will also be invited.
The specific expected accomplishments are:
The Workshop is expected to assist participating countries to understand better the data and systems needs for the development of environmental accounts, including water, energy, land, and material flows. As well, their usefulness in responding to the growing national demand for integrating environmental and economic policy-making and monitoring of sustainable development indicators. It is also expected that the capacity of participants will be strengthened to undertake further work to develop environmental accounts and incorporate environmental information into the SNA.
