Regional Workshop on Resolution Writing

Location

Cairo

1. Background and Justification:

The seventh session of ESCWA Statistical Committee (Beirut, 7-9 November 2006), requested ESCWA to organize a training workshop on Drafting Resolutions for experts from the statistical offices, within the context of its support for capacity-building of national statistical offices.

2. Objective:

To meet National Statistical Offices expressed needs for improving national capability in the overall process related to drafting resolutions as a means of improving the work processes of these Offices and contributing to the harmonization, reliability and timeliness of national statistics.

3. Expected accomplishment:

Enhanced skills of representatives from ESCWA National Statistical Offices in drafting resolutions to push through necessary action for improving statistical data and enhance its quality, and facilitation of effective translation of resolution into work programmes.

4. Working Language:

Arabic and English, with simultaneous interpretation.

5. Venue and accommodation:

The meeting will be held in Cairo. Information on accommodation will be posted soon.
