The ESCWA Centre for Women will be facilitating a two-day national consultation to discuss elements of an operational model for estimating the cost of violence against women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The consultation which will be held in Riyadh on 27-28 March 2018 is considered one of the steps needed in the process of estimating the cost of violence against women and aims to:
- raise awareness among stakeholders on violence against women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
- discuss the exercise of estimating the cost of violence against women and its role in enhancing stakeholders’ responsiveness to the protection of survivors of violence;
- identify needed data for completing the exercise;
- identify existing expertise and training needs within the process of estimating the cost of violence against women.
The consultation, which is organised by the Saudi National Council for Family Affairs, will include representatives from governmental and not-for-profit organisations providing services to survivors of violence.
