ESCWA, and in partnership with the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport, organized an International Conference on Financing Sustainable Development in the Arab Region in Alexandria, Egypt during the period 17-18 December 2014. The conference focused mainly on tax efficiency, workers’ remittances and innovative sources of finance. The meeting was attended by a large number of participants from different countries and agencies interested in the topics of discussion in addition to the presence of 2 ministers from Egypt and the head of the Academy. The meeting is part of ESCWA’s efforts to prepare Member countries to the third international conference on Financing for development which will be held in Addis Ababa in July 2015.
