In the framework of its mandate to strengthen competition and consumer protection and educate youth on competition policy in the Arab region, ESCWA is collaborating with the Department of Economics at the American University of Beirut to organize a seminar on competition law and policy.
The seminar serves as a platform for students to interact with academic and policy experts in the field of competition, and provides participants with an opportunity to delve into the fundamental concepts of competition policy and its relationship with economic development, particularly in the context of digital markets. It presents a comprehensive overview of the competition framework within the Arab region and sheds light on activities initiated by ESCWA to bolster competition policy. The seminar also discusses the role of competition policy during an economic crisis, taking Lebanon as a case study.
