The Strategic Framework of ESCWA focuses on sustainable and equitable development in the Arab region based on the three pillars: Inclusive development, Regional integration and Good governance and resilience. Statistics is an area that cuts across all three pillars and the eight underlying priority areas. The statistics subprogramme is expected to achieve progress in: (i) Implementing, in the Arab region, methodologies in line with the best practices and international standards and recommendations; (ii) Increasing use of quality statistics by stakeholders though aligning statistics to the needs and making statistics available in accessible format; (iii) Reaching regional/subregional agreements on guidelines for harmonization of statistics.
