The Arab Organization for Administrative Development, the Arab Parliament, ESCWA and Transparency International are organizing the Arab Forum to promote transparency and good governance to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) under the theme "All Partners in Fighting Corruption". The forum aims to discuss successes and challenges, present solutions and recommendations, and facilitate conversations between different stakeholders within the framework of SDGs. Various themes related to transparency, decision-making, access to information, and combating organized crime and corruption are addressed.

Outcome document

The forum discussed how to establish cooperation mechanisms between governments and civil society to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which deal with reform of public administration and institutions, accountability, transparency, combating organized crime, access to information, and combating corruption. The forum sessions also touched on several discussions related to the development of effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels, ensuring that decisions are made in a responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative manner at all national levels; ensuring public access to information and protecting fundamental freedoms and whistleblowers, in accordance with national legislation and international conventions; recovering stolen assets, combating all forms of organized crime, significantly reducing illicit financial flows; in addition to providing means and mechanisms to combat corruption in various sectors.

As a result of the discussions, some recommendations were addressed by the participants during the days of the forum, including the need to hold this forum periodically to emphasize its role by addressing fundamental issues that pose challenges facing Arab countries during their march towards achieving sustainable development. The recommendations included calling on Arab governments to promote good governance in governments and local administrations to support effective access to services for citizens and ensure the implementation of the commitments of the Sustainable Development Goals; strengthening institutional mechanisms in Arab countries to collect and provide information while ensuring quality information awareness; and promoting the principles of transparency and good governance in the management of natural resources, especially in the context of climate change and environmental challenges.
