A review of socioeconomic trends, prevailing over the past ten years, was conducted based on the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The review analyzed each of the six targets of the SDGs, highlighting the progress achieved and obstacles faced by Arab countries. The report highlights the mismatch between education received by youth, particularly women, and the requirements of the labor market. It also identifies the economic and political representation of women, which remains below par in the region, as a key challenge to achieve SDG 5. The report also presents good practices from the Arab region that can be replicated among Arab countries to foster the implementation of the various targets of SDG 5.
