The 2016 Annual Report provides an overview of key economic and social developments throughout the Arab region, as well as facts and figures about the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), its strategy and programme of work. The Report is built around the three action pillars of inclusive development, regional integration and good governance and resilience. As the world shifted into the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, ESCWA assisted its Member States in moving from vision to action. Key events included the COP 22 Climate Change Conference in Marrakesh, in which ESCWA played a leading regional role, and the 29th Ministerial Session of ESCWA in Doha.
