Voluntary national reviews in the Arab region

The mechanism of voluntary national reviews (VNRs) is key for enabling countries to track their progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To support this mechanism in the Arab region, ESCWA held a dedicated virtual workshop on 9 and 10 March.
 
Participants discussed the experiences of Egypt, Iraq, Qatar and Tunisia, which are preparing to present their VNRs before the HLPF in 2021. They reviewed progress in 2030 Agenda implementation and challenges faced due to compounded crises, including COVID-19, and the innovative tools developed to face them.
 
The workshop is part of a series of VNR-focused activities implemented jointly by ESCWA, UN-DESA and LAS.
