Adopting a circular economy has become necessary to achieve economic, environmental and social sustainability. Therefore on 3 March, ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) organized a regional consultation to assess the various opportunities and challenges of transitioning from a linear to a circular economy in the Arab region.
Participants assessed the potentials of adopting of a circular economy in the region, and explored the roles of Governments, the private sector and civil society organizations in developing a regional roadmap and prioritizing the right policies in this regard.
Discussions also tackled the role of young professionals in promoting and advancing the transition among small businesses.
