On 26 and 27 June, ESCWA and the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Egypt conducted a technical workshop on “Developing a national version of the Global Economy Wide Simulator Interface”.
The workshop, held in Cairo, aimed to present the characteristics of the ESCWA platform to simulate Arab trade policies and the mechanisms for developing a version specific to the Egyptian economy that considers the productive sectors and the targeted trade partners. It also tackled the capabilities of the simulation platforms developed by ESCWA on the pre- and post-assessment of trade policies and economic shocks.
Additionally, the workshop reviewed globally adopted economic models and discussed the necessary criteria for their development.
