Recognizing the crucial role of sustainable energy in conflict zones, ESCWA, RCREEE, and Sida organized a session on 3 December during COP28 to explore sustainable energy solutions in such areas, aiming to enhance resilience for the most vulnerable populations.
Discussions underscored the significance of decentralized renewable energy as a pivotal element for recovery and resilience in the aftermath of conflict, addressing challenges and outlining pathways for vulnerable communities.
In a related context, ESCWA, GEIDCO and UNFCCC held a session on 5 December, titled “Global Energy Interconnection: Advancing Just and Inclusive Energy Transition”, which evaluated the impact of joint initiatives on the future of sustainable energy.
