On 8 April, ESCWA, UNCTAD and the Egyptian Competition Authority organized a regional policy dialogue on “The role of competition policy in supporting the economic recovery of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) post-COVID-19”.
In his statement, Deputy Executive Secretary Mounir Tabet highlighted the commitment of ESCWA to supporting MSMEs in overcoming competition-related challenges in Arab countries. He called for more resources to support these institutions as a basic pillar of the equitable and sustainable development process.
The dialogue brought together representatives from member States working in competition and MSME development, who discussed ways of fostering entrepreneurship and creating enabling business environments.
