ESCWA is actively involved in various events within and alongside the UN climate change conference (COP28) held in Dubai, UAE, from 30 November to 12 December.
During a high-level dialogue focused on enhancing the UN system’s climate action, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti emphasized the importance of tailoring capacity-building approaches to national and regional needs in the fight against climate change.
Organized by the EMG Secretariat, UNEP, UNFCCC, and the UN Resident Coordinator, the high-level dialogue highlighted the pressing need for a comprehensive transformation of UN partners to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, while also striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
