On 19 and 20 June, the ESCWA Committee on Water Resources held its 15th session at the UN House in Beirut, and was an opportunity for member States to discuss the actions required to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.
Participants discussed progress in achieving water-related goals, and reviewed various activities implemented since the previous session in this regard. They also discussed the use of innovative knowledge tools, the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade in the Arab region, and water sector financing – all of which improved groundwater management.
The Committee concluded the session by adopting a series of recommendations to improve water resources management in the region in the upcoming year.
