Climate change impact on groundwater resources in Jordan and Palestine

In the Arab region, groundwater is a crucial pillar that is heavily relied upon for water security since it is the primary source of freshwater. In this regard, ESCWA and the Arab Center for the Study of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) organized a national workshop on assessing the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources in Jordan and Palestine.
 
The workshop, held from 27 to 29 February, presented the manual on assessing the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources including the required data, and the existing opportunities and challenges. Trainees were guided on how to use the manual in their respective fields.
 
The workshop also focused on enabling national teams to use the Arab Groundwater Knowledge Platform.
