To mark Arab Bread Day 2023, ESCWA and the Arab Federation for Food Industries organized a seminar on 10 July at the UN House in Beirut, under the slogan "Our Loaf... Our Strength”.
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the challenges facing the wheat and bread industry in the Arab region, including the impact of COVID-19, the war in Ukraine, climate change, and national and regional conflicts.
The seminar gathered experts and officials from the public and private sectors, wheat producers, suppliers and importers, as well as other stakeholders who work in mills, bakeries, academic bodies, and regional and international organizations.
