Objective

To improve the capacity of key professionals from national authorities and UN agencies who have undergone DevInfo user and administration training at basic level. This level of advance training is designed to meet the specific needs and requirements of the participants. This training covers DevInfo advanced technology topics on Database management, Mapping management, Web master and EmergencyInfo.
The desired outcome is for a better understanding of how to use DevInfo database technology to contribute to the current national development plan by supporting national authorities and the UN Country Team in harmonizing and standardizing collation and dissemination of data on human development.

You Will Learn How To

Review data sources, metadata, aspects of data quality (reliability, comparability, desegregation)
Study and analyze the DevInfo database model to understand how the system operates
Use various advance techniques of database tools and reports for database management
Build and customize database conversion utilities to meet specific requirements
Study the process of integration of maps using DevInfo mapping technologies
Use advance mapping techniques to associate boundary and feature maps to their geographical areas and how to create a group of boundary maps
Manage Users for on-line data entry in DevInfo database and how to enter data on-line
Configure, Install and Manage a web server and how to deploy DevInfo on the web
Convert DevInfo data from Access to SQL Server and how to configure, install and manage SQL Server to upload the converted DevInfo database
Implement EmergencyInfo using PDA data capture technology
Create PDA data capture questionnaire, conduct a survey using PDA questionnaire and import the completed questionnaire into a DevInfo database
Use DevInfo database to prepare SITReps

Prerequisites

Participants should be familiar with DevInfo ver.6.0 technology including the User and Administration application. Familiarity with Windows is assumed; some knowledge of monitoring statistics is helpful. Participants who have specific requirements of web master should be familiar with operating system and database system installation and configuration.
