The Department of Statistics in Jordan (DoS) is partnering with ESCWA, the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), the Ministry of Planning (MoP) and the National Aid Foundation (NAF) to develop a proposal for a national Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for Jordan and host a validation workshop to reach consensus on a national MPI framework.
The workshop is aimed at presenting the national MPI proposal and seeking advice and comments from invited stakeholders. It includes technical and normative discussions on the choice of indicators and cut-offs, as well as interventions from OPHI and ESCWA. The workshop also touches on the basics of multidimensional poverty and the international experience in developing and using national MPIs, and showcases examples of national MPIs in the Arab region.
